Elementary School Visual Art Exhibitions

CPS Elementary School Visual Art Exhibitions are the district’s showcase of artwork produced by elementary school students. This year will mark our 5th annual season of exhibitions.

Three elementary school exhibitions are coordinated and implemented regionally:

  • West Side schools (Networks 5, 6, 7, 8)
  • North/Northwest Side schools (Networks 1, 2, 4)
  • South/Southwest Side schools (Networks 9, 10, 12, 13)

Teacher and Student Participation
Teachers can upload jpegs of their students’ work for submission directly into our submissions portal, indicating which regional exhibition(s) they wish to submit to (N/NW, S/SW, West, or all).

The submissions portal will ask teachers to add information about the student artists so that the Exhibition Coordinators can make labels for the works of art. Additionally, the portal automatically issues a consent form that students must complete and sign.

Exhibition Coordinators will make selections on the artwork that will be placed into the exhibitions based on dimensions, media, and style of artwork. Students will be notified by the submissions portal directly on which works of art were selected.

Any work submitted that is not selected for the exhibitions will be made available on an electronic gallery housed on the CPS Arts website. Plus, if teachers upload a lesson plan from which that work of art was produced, the student’s artwork will be accompanied by its lesson plan for other teachers to see and use.

Specific dates for the 2018 exhibitions, including artwork drop-off and pick up dates, are forthcoming.
