Free Street Theater

Free Street Theater is a cultural arts laboratory that uses the performing arts to enhance literacy, self-esteem, creativity, leadership qualities, and employability of populations consistently excluded from mainstream cultural programming. Through workshops and training in theatre, writing, music, and dance, Free Street develops performances, performing companies, and arts outreach activities that educate and motivate participants to address issues and aspirations of their communities. We practice being the change we want to see in the world. Part of that change is to view creativity as a primary and common language so that the diverse youth with whom we work have the skills to approach any situation with imagination, compassion, and energy.
