High school students: Want to make an impact on arts education in Chicago Public Schools? Apply to join the Arts Student Voice Committee!

The Arts Student Voice Committee is a diverse group of CPS high school students in grades 9–12 (age 15 and up) who will work with the CPS Department of Arts Education (DAE) staff to discuss, create, and execute strategies for improving arts education in Chicago Public Schools.

The committee will discuss issues related to arts education in Chicago Public Schools, select an issue or issues that they feel strongly about and can potentially affect with their actions, and create strategies for addressing them. DAE staff members will review, offer feedback on, approve, and support students in carrying out their strategies.

When accepted, students will commit to attending biweekly meetings at the CPS Loop Office (42 W. Madison St) on Thursdays from 5:00pm–7:00pm, from October 10, 2019 until June 18, 2020.

Students may also be asked to attend additional meetings and arts-related events throughout the school year. Attendance at additional meetings and events is not mandatory and will be based on students’ availability and interest.

Applications are due SEPTEMBER 30th, 2019. Please download the packet below for more details about the role and a link to the application form.
