2nd Annual Chicago Jazz Philharmonic/UIC Jazz Academy

Some of Chicago's most prominent jazz artists join together to instruct students grades 5-12 in a two-week summer jazz camp program. In collaboration with Chicago Jazz Philharmonic's Jazz Alive music education program, the 2nd Annual CJP/UIC Jazz Academy will be held Monday – Friday, July 19-30, 2010 from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM at UIC's Department of Performing Arts Building, 1040 W. Harrison Street in Chicago. Beginning - advanced students develop skills & knowledge about music & music performance through participation in various ensembles such as Jazz Band, Drum Line, Handchimes & Strings. Additional courses include Jazz Aesthetics, Instrument Technique & Improvisation; all taught by the world-class CJP/UIC Jazz Academy faculty. Scholarships avail $175 for 2-week camp including lunch!
